Over the weekend Laila and I went to Home Depot to purchase new guts for our gas grill. We have always wanted to try smoking meat so we purchased the above pictured smoker. Mostly we purchased it because it was only $69. After attempting to use it we found out why. It just won’t heat to proper smoking temperature. So of course I went to the internet to find a solution.
I was glad to see i wasn’t just an idiot that did not now how to operate. I am in process of sending an e-mail to Home Depot on why it would sell something that doesn’t work without modifications.
We smoked a drunk chicken and some pork ribs last night that we needed to finish off in the oven. They were quite tasty. Looking forward to smoking our first beef brisket.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to write about this or not. I think if one considers themselves a writer though, you should write about the things you know about. And the thing I know about is my life has taken a completely unplanned detour due to someone’s insanity.
I was trying to decide where to take the kids on spring break and I started messing around on priceline again and bid $50 a night for a three star hotel for three nights near Universal Studios Orlando. I was kind of shocked when it was accepted. (more…)
