Just another Saturday night

HPIM2677

One of the advantages of living where we do is the free entertainment.  The church parking lot across the street is a favorite hang out of the local sheriff’s department. Its also one of the few good places to pull over on our road. The one thing I’ve learned is when the second car pulls up, someone’s car is getting searched and they are headed to jail. It’s not quite as exciting as COPS on TV but it’s all ours.

UPDATE: Here is a link to story on arrest.

The other nice thing is I bought Joseph a tripod for his camera for Christmas, so I got mine back, making the picture possible. I really need to play around with it some more as it makes many low lighting pictures possible.

You’re mocking me, aren’t you?

Well, I brought the exercise bike inside, hoping for inspiration.

It’s not working too well so far.

Cash does make it look a lot more comfortable though.

I am going to remain my usual positive self

themcrookedvultures

So today I bought tickets for myself, Laila, the boys and a band mate to go see Them Crooked Vultures in Atlanta. I am remaining positive because I want to see them and I’ve wanted to see a show at the Tabernacle for a while now. (more…)

Driveway cleared and frostbite

HPIM2660

This morning I noticed my neighbor and his two boys sweeping their driveway to clear the snow from it so maybe they could escape. They were about 80% done when I informed them I had a leaf blower that would probably be much more effective. It took me less than five minutes to finish off his driveway. I felt a little guilty that I hadn’t noticed them working out there earlier. It was also a little strange to be the guy that actually had the proper equipment to do the job. I guess even the least handy and allergic to power tools guy finds a bone now and then. (more…)

The Pool is closed!

HPIM2652

We received our first significant snow fall of the year yesterday. For those of you up North you can laugh at the fact that schools closed at noon yesterday even though the first flake had yet to fall.

I kind of laughed in my superior I’ve driven in this stuff before attitude until my lovely wife called me and told me she could barely get up the driveway. (more…)

The Mystery of the Purple Goo

IMG00501

When I got in my car today and drove down my hill I noticed something strange on my passenger side window. Now I could have just said, “why there is some strange purplish stuff on my vehicle, how peculiar.” Not me though, my interest was piqued just enough to step outside into the frigid Georgia morning air to investigate further, after all curiosity is in my nature.

Lesson Learned

HPIM2634

Since we usually don’t experience long stretches of sub freezing temperatures here in North Georgia, there are a few things I still have to learn the hard way.

Now I did learn a thing or two from  “Christmas Story” playing 278 times each Christmas Season.

But Ralphie never told me that Citronella Oil would freeze.

Follow up: Upon inspecting all other Citronella Fuel outside that is not in its frozen state. I suspect that water and or condensation is the culprit here

HPIM2608

Our new cat, Hope, has not undergone her much needed spay yet. The joy of it is she has gone in to heat at least 4 times since we’ve had her. This involves her stalking the house at odd hours and mewing at a decibel level that I thought was unattainable in a common feline. (more…)

Second verse, same as the first

HPIM2614

So Sunday morning, I headed out to take the kids home. I was supposed to be in Lexington, Kentucky between 9 and 10 AM so I got ready for an early 4 AM start. It did not help that the electricity went out about 2 AM and did not come back on until 3:45.  Still we made it onto the road at 4:15.
