Tonight

Mostly Clear

Low: 30°F
RealFeel®: 36°F
Sunset: 5:29 PM
When I arrived home from work today I decided I better winterize the pool since it supposed to be freezing tonight.
Now, I’ve done some reading about proper winterizing of pools this year. There’s chemicals to be added, pool covers to be purchased as well as other tasks.
Since last year I did nothing and the only damage I suffered was a burnt up pool pump, I did it my way.
I disconnected the pump and it is now in the garage next to the turkey fryer and the non exercise bicycle.
Maybe I’ll do it the right way next year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wrote last year about how I feel about Thanksgiving.

Hope every body has some time today to reflect on all they have been blessed with.

Thanksgiving is also sort of a time stamp annually. It can be the start of an overwhelming season where I don’t seem to have enough time to get everything done that  I want to accomplish.

This poses a dilemma for a world class procrastinator like myself.

It does remind of some things I need to get done though.

I have a turkey fryer still in the box in the garage (came with the cat) that I need to assemble and master.

I have Christmas lights to put up on the house (need a a ladder)

I have an exercise bicycle I need to assemble (next to the turkey fryer).

I have Christmas shopping to start (Oh the horror!)

I have a pool pump to disassemble before the first freeze.

Oh well, one thing at a time.

Happy Thanksgiving and get moving already!

May need to move to Michigan

First this young man from Michigan wins the World Series of Poker.

Then this guy from Michigan wins the Rock Paper Scissors World Championship.

Wow, I guess I need to move to Michigan and wear tights to compete in this crazy world.

Funny thing is the dude with the over sized $7000 check looks more excited than the guy with $8 million on the table.

Strange things are afoot in my house.

HPIM2578

Laila’s boys came over last night and I am still a little unsure about what happened. I usually wake up the next day and wonder “Hey what happened to my beer?” There was a different feel in the air this morning  though as I opened the fridge and found to my surprise, beer that had not been there the prior day. I am not saying I came out ahead, but it was nice to have a little something left in the fridge.

Now if I could just get them to work on their choice of beer. That was my first PBR and while it wasn’t bad, I don’t think it will work its way into the rotation.

Atlanta Field Trip!

HPIM2528

I had the opportunity today to take a work field trip to Atlanta.

Pictures are posted here.

We started off at the World of Coke where we had a meeting and lunch sponsored by Coke.  We had a quick trip through the World of Coke. Unfortunately we did not have time to see everything. They did have a nice 4-D movie where the chairs moved and you got sprayed with small amounts of water, pretty neat. We also had a guided tour where we went through the history of Coke. Since I spent not a small time working for a Coca Cola bottler it was all very interesting to me. It was all done very well and had many artifacts from Coke’s history it was educational in a brain washing sort of way. Since I have sworn off all soda (with exception of an occasional mixed drink), I don’t believe I’ll be swayed. (more…)
