money

Another from my son. Much better than the monkey baby one of a few days ago! I disapprove of the smoking but approve the fact I’m on the $100.

Laila and I were discussing the casualness of the presidency this year.  Maybe the photo isn’t too far fetched in the hopefully, very distant future. Of course I think paper money is just a fad anyway.

On Saturday, Laila and I will be heading to Atlanta to attend the Red Bull Soap Box Race. It looks like it will be lots of fun and should make for some great pictures.

So of course we needed to look for some lodging and I headed to Priceline like usual. I ended up booking the Holiday Inn Atlanta Downtown World Congress Center for a grand total of $53.03.  Considering their lowest published rate is $95 before fees, I am booking it as another win for priceline and me.

I currently have same pictured cat cuddled around my keyboard. I think I have too many assistants that lick themselves and don’t have opposable thumbs. Their typing is incoherent and their manners abhorrent. They never answer the phone and are incapable of taking a message.

Laila and I went antique shopping today. While we saw many things of interest we ended buying nothing but some books. Including a nice Church Cook Book from Lafayette, LA concerning Cajun cooking.

Unfortunately while I was backing up I did not see the old Ford pick up behind me with the tailgate down.

The best accidents are those you can walk away from, and not exchange insurance information I guess.

So it was my year to have a Palooza as last year we had Lailapalooza. I went ahead and let her surprise me by booking a cruise that would have had my toes in the sand of Coca Cay on my birthday. Unfortunately I forgot that she had some co workers off that week and we could not take it then. This is a slight issue when you have already paid for it. But after 90 minutes on the phone we got it moved to the week before Laila’s birthday.

I wanted it to be a little different than our last cruise, so we booked with Royal Caribbean instead of Carnival. That means we get to go to a different private island, Coca Cay, this time. Once again we will also visit Nassau.

We are also departing out of Cape Canaveral instead of Jacksonville.  Since we leave on a Monday we can take the weekend to saunter down that way. We were thinking of a day in Savannah possibly.

Only 56 days to go!

hopers

I do not know why cats are so amazed by desk top printers, but 2 out of 3 in my house are astounded.

Pictured above is Hope, our new kitty.

She came from same house as Scooter so I think she may be related to him. Her owner was moving and just didn’t have the space for her.

She is less than a year old so she is amazed by many things. She had never had other cats in house, so she is fully enjoying the daily 5 AM wrestling match with her brother. She is also on a mission to figure out how to get the large fish out of the aquarium.

If i could just get her trained to answer my e-mails things would go  much more smoothly.

Exhibit A as to why you should never tell your kids “Sure just grab one!” when they ask if they can borrow a T-shirt.

Unknown? I know him

This article from Cardplayer.com calls my friend an unknown from Chattanooga. It was pretty exciting to me to follow on the internet as he lived a dream.

I sure hope to be an unknown someday.

Steve was kind enough to lend me a room a few years ago while I was temporarily displaced. I would like to think that I helped him a little in his journey. A few years back, we were in Tunica and I helped him with his ability to spot the “working girls”. Its really kind of a mathematical formula. Any girl that is attractive, looks half your age and shows any kind of interest in you while you’re at the crap tables is most likely working. It was the same lesson I had to teach my brother in Vegas a few years ago. Run, don’t walk fellas.

For many recreational poker players just the chance to sit down and play with some of the “known” pros would be a dream by itself. To play all three days and reach the final table would be surreal.

I was following the tourney on this site . The funny thing was even though they showed him as fifth in chips after day one they hardly mention him  and during the reporting  he never even gets a picture on the site until they were down to 4 players.  Of course they were focused on Chris Moneymaker and his quest to win a second major.  Knowing Steve, I think he would prefer to remain unknown and without picture.  I guess I’m not helping with this post.

Congrats Steve, and can I borrow five bucks?

It was my son’s birthday so we decided to head out to Six Flags near Atlanta.

When we went in the spring we had a snafu with our every body pays kid’s price coupon, so we bought season passes for the three of us. (more…)
