Every morning I find an empty bird feeder to fill. Reference above picture to see why. This is the first time I've been able to get a good picture of him. In the past the old camera did not do as well in low light conditions. The feeder is squirrel proof but not coon proof. I don't know if I mentioned that I have to relocate 30 miles south for my new job. I worry about who is going to feed the birds, squirrels and raccoons when we're gone?

Why it costs so much to feed the birds
Monday, May 26th, 2008Pat Jordan, one heck of a writer

I was perusing one of my favorite sites for reading what others have written, Slate.com, when I came across this article. This was a story on athletes and how their relationship with the general public has changed over the years. Here's another writer's take on same subject. I'm sure I must have read some of Pat Jordan's writings before but I really liked his style. In that article there were links to other articles he has written. There is a profile he did on Roger Clemens in 2001. Some of the things in there are kind of ironic now that we think we know what we know about The Rocket. The one I found the most entertaining though was his story about trying to interview Jose Canseco. I just thought that maybe some of my sports fan friends would enjoy the reading.
When duct tape quits working
Monday, May 19th, 2008After six years and over 9500 photographs shot, it was time to replace my old bulky digital camera. I loved my HP Photosmart 715 it has served me well over the years. Unfortunately, I had dropped it one (maybe more) times too many, and the latch on the battery cover had broke.
Now an adopted Southerner I have learned a thing or too about fixin things and had duct taped it back together. It was a little large to carry around discreetly and I had begun to develop camera envy. It had hit me especially hard when I purchased a camera for my daughter at Christmas time.
I liked HP so I bought a HP Photosmart mz67. I found it for $60 less than anywhere else at bhphotovideo.com. I see now that even though other retailers continue to sell this model they have discontinued it, maybe that is why I got the great deal.
I have posted some boring pictures from our Atlanta trip in the gallery. I'm hoping with the new camera I will be inspired to take even more pictures. I hope this one serves me as well as the last one.
Time for a new vehicle
Saturday, May 10th, 2008
It was time to get Laila a new car. She had been driving the same Honda for 10 years and it was showing signs of wear. Besides the 150,000 + miles it had picked up a disturbing habit lately of dying while driving it. The advantage of all the car rentals I have driven over the last few years was we knew what we wanted. When we saw a local dealership knock $4000 off of their list price on a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix for a weekend sale we decided to go for it.
I know I feel better just knowing that my bride will not be stuck on the side of I-75 for any period of time.
Unbelievable thing I discovered was that they did not fill the tank, I didn't realize gas was that expensive!
Maybe Doggy Steps aren’t so bad after all
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008
Don't I feel a little foolish now after bad mouthing people and their doggy steps a few years ago. It could be that I've matured as a pet owner and a person. It could be I don't care anymore and am accepting the inevitable that I may well end up as the the weird cat lady.
I now have a six foot monument to an Egyptian cat goddess in my living room. I'm not sure if she would be impressed but she would have a place to sharpen her claws.
The saga of the missing CD
Monday, May 5th, 2008Still no CD. So I called them up and we apparently are still on speaking terms. I explained them that it had been so long since I ordered it that my musical tastes had matured and I was no longer interested. They issued a full credit.
I want my money back
And don't forget
To give me back my black T-shirt (Ben Folds)
