Nascar in Atlanta

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

Bless the free ticket fairies again. They provided us with tickets to both the Saturday Busch Race and the Sunday Nextel Cup Race in Atlanta. The race isn't actually in Atlanta though it is in Hampton, Georgia which is another thirty miles south. Deciding we didn't want to drive 260 miles on both Saturday and Sunday we headed to my favorite recent site, Priceline. I was hoping to get the downtown Hilton again but was not dissapointed too terribly when we got the Marriot Renaissance Center for around $70. (more…)

RED RED WINE

May have found my new favorite inexpensive Merlot. Opened a bottle of Robert Mondavi Private Selection 2004. Very smooth and tasty and comparable to the Kendall Jackson Merlot. Priced at only $7 to $11. Always nice when you get surprised by a low end selection.

biggerbettertoiletseats.com/

Daily I drive by a tractor trailer parked next to the interstate that is a painted advertisement for the above mentioned site. For some reason It always makes me chuckle. I’ve always been interested in toilet seats myself but more in the context of convex or concave as opposed to pure size. In reading their website I see that the seat is guaranteed to hold up to 500 lbs without breaking. The only picture I get is a line of 600 pound people with their legs crossed unable to crap until someone comes up with biggestbesttoiletseats.com. No one seems to be demanding a smaller toilet seat though, what about all the skninny little bastards that keep falling in don’t they deserve their own website also? stopstrappingaboardacrossyourass.com.

On the other hand maybe I’m just thinking too much about toilets since I’ve been home sick today and unable to stray too far from mine and for the record I prefer concave.

Grand Ole Opry

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

I had the pleasure of visiting the Grand Ole Opry for the second time Friday night. I had business in Nashville this weekend and decided to come up a day early after looking at the Opry's website. This was their first show back in the Opry House at the mall. On site it said Vince Gill, Steve Wariner, Josh Turner and others would be performing. Unfortunately I didn't read the fine print and realize that Vince and Steve would be playing Saturday and not Friday. I was pretty dissapointed but one thing I found from the last trip, is even though you may only be vaguely familar with the names of the performers, when they sing you'll find yourself saying "I know that song, I didn't know they did that."
